Ductal® UHPFRC panels in Shenzen

The façade panels are designed for Shum Yip Upperhills Loft in Shenzen in China, the Architects being Urbanus. The total surface area of the panels built is over 20,000m², the dimensions of a standard panel are 1.5m (wide) x 2,8m (high). The material used is the Ductal organic fibre NaW3 FO STT. What is interesting about this panel is that it is partially reinforced. It is designed for extreme wind resistance (extreme value of 2.6 kN / m²), thermal loads and earthquake resistance. From a structural point of view, the twisted shape and the slenderness of each vertical component make the entire system more sensitive and more vulnerable to lateral loads. The elements at the supports were the subject of a specific analysis in order in particular to retain an “isostatic” type own weight transfer.
