Office building, Mediacom 3, in Saint-Denis

Design a reversible building that can start out as offices and then be transformed into apartments. This was the challenge to be taken up in the Mediacom project. Starting out from this hypothesis, the primary structure is designed like a “smooth” shell without any falling girders in the office platforms, lines of windows without ledges and large span slabs of the pre-stressed honeycomb type. The horizontal beam assembly of the IFB type is located in the thickness of the slab so that utilities can have all the flexibility they need over time. In this layout the exterior passageways serve as sun-breaks and are articulated with the primary structure so as to minimize thermal bridges.
